3 of the Worst Countries To Get Divorced in 2020
Excluding the United States which we did here, here’s a quick list of 3 of the worst countries to get divorced in. This isn’t an objective list by any means, there’s probably worse ones out there than these 3. These were primarily picked because they suck to get divorced in when you’re a guy and because of the staff here at Divorce Czar, we have some people with personal experience dealing with faulting marriages while living in these countries.
The United Kingdom
Known to divorce lawyers world-wide as ‘the worst place to get a divorce’, the U.K. enthusiastically lives up to that description. Prenup agreements are not considered to be ‘strictly enforceable’, so they are regularly disregarded and alimony settlements are known to be significantly higher than in most civilized countries throughout Europe. Indebted servitude is popular in the U.K.
Canada
Canada’s divorce system is heavily imbalanced. It is not unusual for one partner, usually the woman, to receive much more than 50% of the assets in a divorce as well as get extremely high rates of alimony. Men almost never get any form of custody over their own children (even joint custody is uncommon) and child support fees are also high in Canada with no system in place to ensure the money is being used in any way to actually support the child.
Way back in 1998 Ottawa’s Special Joint Committee on Child Custody and Access recommended a complete overhaul of Canada’s divorce system, this has, to-date, not happened. Instead, Canadian fathers are continually treated poorly, rarely getting to see their own children while still having to financially support their ex.
Philippines
Simply put, Divorce is illegal in the Philippines. This makes it an especially terrible place to try to get a divorce.
